Scarborough – Magical Moorlands & Coastal Charms 6 Days 1 – 5 October 2017

YOUR HOTEL  The AA/RAC 3* Esplanade Hotel enjoys a commanding position on Scarborough’s South Cliff, yet is just a short walk from the beach, the Spa and the town centre.  Bedrooms are all en suite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities.  There is a lift to all floors and evening entertainment is planned on two evenings.

SUNDAY  We travel north to Yorkshire to arrive at the Esplanade Hotel, Scarborough in time to settle in and relax before dinner.

MONDAY  Today we have a very interesting excursion.  Leaving Scarborough we head south to the genteel resort ofnorth-yorks-moors-rails Filey for a short stay before continuing inland this afternoon through delightful little villages for a visit to Eden Camp, near Malton, an original World War II prisoner of war camp and now a museum exhibiting the spirit of wartime Britain.

TUESDAY A free day to discover the varied attractions of Scarborough. Enjoy the delightful promenade in the attractive Belvedere Gardens, take a short walk across the Spa footbridge to the town centre and shops, or the Cliff lift down to the golden beaches of the South Bay, or the busy little harbour.  Explore the town with its indoor markets and antique shops, or walk up to Scarborough’s fortress castle and enjoy the views across both North and South Bays.

scarboroughWEDNESDAY This morning we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port which was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the harbour stands the 7th Century Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.  Time for a wander and lunch before we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway service taking us over the scenic North Yorkshire Moors through Grosmont and Goathland to Pickering where we rejoin the coach to Scarborough.

THURSDAY  We travel through Thornton-le-Dale to Castle Howard.  Here “Yorkshire rivals Rome”. For over 300 years this palatial stately home has commanded its position over the Howardian Hills and, more recently, was the setting for TV’s acclaimed ‘Brideshead Revisited’.  There is time to visit the house, take a stroll around the delightful grounds and enjoy a drink and snack before we return to Scarborough.

FRIDAY Regretfully we leave after breakfast and begin our journey home.

Llandudno Holly & Mistletoe 5 Days 20 – 24 October 2017

YOUR HOTEL  Family run Tynedale Hotel situated on the sea front, having used this hotel for many years it has become a firm favourite.  The food is excellent in both choice and presentation.  This hotel is very well recommended with excellent facilities including all bedrooms en-suite with hairdryer, trouser press, remote control colour television, many rooms with ironing facilities, direct dial telephone, hospitality trays in all rooms.  Lift to all floors, some rooms have steps to them, level access to hotel, some ground floor rooms available.  Air-conditioned restaurant and cabaret lounge, top class entertainment every night, happy hour at the bar each evening.

FRIDAY  Depart local pick up area or Kettlewell’s Yard and travel across the scenic Woodhead pass in Derbyshire and into Cheshire, stopping at Chester services for lunch on route.  We arrive in Llandudno in good time to relax.  Time for a stroll around make the most of happy hour in the bar before an excellent dinner.

SATURDAY TO MONDAY  There will be free excursions and entertainment and lots of fun to be had.

This hotel has to be one of the all time greats in themed-break holidays. Mock Christmas revellers will love the glam and the glitz of the Festive Celebrations – decorations, present from Santa for everyone, Christmas carols, sherry receptions, afternoon teas and live entertainment every night.  Six course Christmas Dinner, late night buffets, Fancy Dress Parade, New Year Party.  This is not the cheapest mock Christmas that you will see but with nothing but the best, surely excellent value.

SUNDAY        New Year’s Eve

Leaving the hotel we drive to Cambridge and on arrival we meet our guide for a tour of the magnificent University City. Enjoy an overview of Cambridge’s attractions including the magnificent college buildings and afterwards the remainder of the day is free for you to explore in more detail.  Lunch today is not included there are lots of pubs, cafes and tea rooms.  We return to the hotel in time for Afternoon Tea. Relax and get ready for tonight’s Gala Dinner and musical live entertainment to see in the New Year.

Happy New Year to all! After a leisurely breakfast we have a short drive to the historic City of Ely. Ely is an ideal destination for all interests and tastes, with a splendid array of medieval buildings and narrow streets.  Ely’s main attraction is the magnificent Cathedral, known as ‘The Ship of the Fens’.  Marvel at this amazing 12th century building, maybe enjoy a stroll by the river.  We return to the hotel for lunch and then enjoy a relaxing afternoon in and around the hotel, maybe take a swim. Tonight we have a House Party with Bingo and Quiz to round off the day.

Jersey by air from Doncaster or East Midlands 8 Days 2 – 9 June 2018

The beautiful Channel Islands are ideally positioned in the mild waters of the Gulf Stream about 100 miles from the south coast of England.  They enjoy a high level of sunshine all year round. Jersey, the largest island is only 14 miles from the French coast and is a fascinating blend of old and new.  British, yet with a strong international influence.  This is an ideal holiday destination without the problems of passports or currency. Jersey is south sloping to enjoy every ray of sunshine and its coastline is as varied as it is magnificent.  Rugged coves in the north, golden sandy beaches in the south, hidden coves, bays and harbours line the east, one golden crescent of sand five miles long to the west!  The capital St Helier, is a town with traffic free shopping precincts, department stores and small shops in the centre, plus two attractive covered markets.  Indoor pursuits are plentiful at Jersey’s huge leisure complex at Fort Regent.  For nightlife there are cinemas, theatres and excellent restaurants.  Shopping facilities are very good, with no VAT. to pay.  Bargains can be found in jewellery, cosmetics, wines, spirits and tobacco.


YOUR HOTEL The Mayfair is the perfect setting for a holiday for all age groups. Conveniently located only a few minutes walk from the beach and town.  There is a rooftop terrace above the indoor pool, a gym and a steam room.  Throughout the day the continental style coffee shop is open.  All bedrooms have private facilities with TV, teamaker and telephone.  A lift serves most floors, however some rooms do have stairs to them.

SATURDAY Your Kettlewell’s coach will leave the Retford area in the morning for Doncaster/East Midlands Airport for your flight to Jersey, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in St Helier by a local coach.

SUNDAY TO FRIDAY Lots of free time to explore the beautiful island of Jersey. Coach tours provide the ideal way to get acquainted with the island’s many attractions.  Do not forget just how close you will be to France – near enough to pop over for the day, (full passport will be required).  Our local representative will be on hand to assist you with any local excursion bookings.  Alternatively you could hire a car and do your own thing.

SATURDAY  You will be transferred to Jersey Airport for the return flight to Doncaster/East Midlands where your Kettlewell’s coach will be waiting to return you home.
