A Touch of Class in East Anglia 5 Days 29 April – 3 May 2019

Rural villages, lush green meadows, rich farmlands and sandy heathlands depicted by the famous painters Constable and Gainsborough. We visit historic Colchester, a stunning hall and take a cruise. All this combines to give a holiday of particular charm and nostalgia for you to enjoy.

YOUR HOTEL The Crowne Plaza Five Lakes Hotel is located in open countryside to the north of Maldon, in Essex, near Colchester. It is a stunning hotel surrounded by over 320 acres of parkland, including two golf courses. Hotel facilities include indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym and steam room, aerobics studio and a selection of five bars, lounges with lots of space to relax. All the bedrooms are en suite, and have television, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities.

MONDAY Depart from your home area travelling to East Anglia and arriving late afternoon at Crowne Plaza Five Lakes Hotel. Tea/Coffee and biscuits served on arrival.

TUESDAY Today we have a drive to the popular seaside resort of Felixstowe. Here you can obtain lunch, explore the town or enjoy a stroll along the promenade. This afternoon we are at the beautiful Otley Hall in Ipswich. Still a family home, the 16th century moated Hall is set in 10 acres of magnificent gardens in the tranquil Suffolk countryside. We enjoy cream Tea at the Hall before leaving.

WEDNESDAY Today we make our way to historic Colchester for some free time and chance to obtain lunch. The oldest town in England boasts a wide “boulevard” as a main street, with many interesting pedestrian shopping malls and lanes with specialist shops. At one end of the street is beautiful Castle Park, complete with the largest Norman Keep ever constructed, riverside walks and pleasant gardens. This afternoon we make our way back with a drive to Mersea Island and West Mersea for a short break before returning to the hotel

THURSDAY For our final outing we first visit the delightful town of Maldon, on the Blackwater estuary. In bygone times the town was a smugglers haven and today you have chance to explore and obtain lunch. We are on our way to Papermill Lock to the Victoria for a delightful afternoon cruise along the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. Refreshments are available on board

FRIDAY After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey
