A tour for 2019 featuring the county on the south shore of the Thames Estuary – Kent, with lots of varied attractions. As a contrast we have a visit to Greenwich with chance to visit the newly restored Cutty Sark.

YOUR HOTEL The Holiday Inn Rochester-Chatham is pleasantly situated on the edge of the town and is an ideal location for the weekend. Hotel facilities include Health Club with indoor swimming pool. All bedrooms are en suite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities.

MONDAY Depart from your home area in the morning traveling to Kent and arriving late afternoon at Holiday Inn Rochester Hotel.

TUESDAY From Rochester we head west towards London and Greenwich. Greenwich has a lot to offer the visitor – The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Park with the Meridian Line, Old world pubs, including the riverside Trafalgar Tavern, the newly restored Cutty Sark and more. There are lots of opportunity for a drink and a bite to eat.

WEDNESDAY Today we commence with a journey east along the North Kent coastline towards Whitstable, famous the world over for its Oysters. After a brief stop for coffee, we then head to R.A.F. Manston, (one of only a few “Battle of Britain” airfields still in use today) home of the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum. Opened by Dame Vera Lynn in 1988, the museum houses two fine examples of the Spitfire and Hurricane as well as many artefacts from the Second World War. We then travel to Sandwich, one of the original Cinque Ports and home of Sandwich Secret Gardens.

THURSDAY Free day in Rochester and a chance for you to maybe visit the castle or discover the Dickens connections which includes Restoration House (Great Expectations) and Six Poor Travellers House immortalised in a Christmas short story. Alternatively the Guildhall Museum of local history is always worth a visit.

FRIDAY After breakfast we leave for home.
