Dorset Steam Fair – from small beginnings this annual event has become one of the favoured places for those interested in how people lived, worked and played in bygone years and it is now widely recognised as ‘The National Heritage Show’ as well as being regarded as the leading show of its type in the World.  The spectacle covers an enormous showground.  You can stand amazed at the variety of exhibitions, and the sheer scale of the show means that there is always something new to see.  The Dorset Steam Fair is a typically British event offering a unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment.  Come and join us for this special event.

YOUR HOTEL  Holiday Inn near Southampton.  The hotel features full leisure facilities including an indoor heated pool, fully equipped gym, Jacuzzi and Steam Room. There is a choice of menu for dinner followed by tea and coffee.  All bedrooms are air conditioned with en-suite facilities including hairdryer, also satellite television and tea and coffee making facilities.

FRIDAY  Depart local pick points or Kettlewell’s yard.  Travelling south we make a stop for lunch on route.

SATURDAY  We make an early start to make the most of the day and travel to the Blandford area to the Steam Fair, see the Steaming Giants of the past put through their paces, see the old steam driven funfair, vintage, veteran and classic cars, lorries, military vehicles and heavy horses to name just a few.  There are over 500 trade stands and an auto jumble area.  There are five entertainment pavilions each with its own programme of live music and beer stands.  A great day out for everyone.

SUNDAY  After breakfast and a great weekend we retrace our steps northwards and home, stopping for lunch on route.
