MONDAY  Depart from your home area in the morning travelling east to Kent.   This afternoon we visit Hever Castle, former childhood home of Anne Boleyn. The story of the Tudors at Hever is depicted in the many portraits around the castle. From here we make our way to our hotel, the Village, Maidstone.

TUESDAY  Today we visit to historic Canterbury, with its famous Cathedral. The town centre is very compact and is best explored on foot or by horse drawn carriage. We have chance to obtain lunch here and this afternoon we visit Leeds Castle, set on two islands on the River Len and home to generations of Lords and Ladies for over 1000 years. We are transported through around 900 years of the castle’s history - a sumptuous mix of period architecture, impressive interiors and family treasures.

WEDNESDAY  We begin with a drive to Hawkinge, not far from Folkestone. Here we visit the Kent Battle of Britain Museum, a superb collection of Battle of Britain artefacts, with aircraft, vehicles, weapons, prints, relics and much more. From here we make our way into the coastal town of Hythe where we join the world famous Romney Hythe and Dymchurch narrow gauge railway for a ride along the coast to New Romney. Afterwards we take a break in delightful Tenterden before returning through the picturesque countryside.

THURSDAY  This morning we travel to Dover to visit the most iconic of all English fortresses. Dover castle has commanded the gateway to the realm for nine centuries. We explore the many different layers of Dover Castle’s colourful and turbulent history. See the medieval defence systems and we have a tour of the Secret Wartime Tunnels used as a strategic stronghold during WWII. The tour also features the Underground Hospital.
